The 11th edition of the Volta regional Colleges of Education sports festival is set to take place from the 8th to 15th of April 2012. The long-week festival will be co-hosted by St. Francis and St. Teresa College of Education in Hohoe. The games will bring together all the seven (7) Colleges of Education in the Region to participate in various sporting discipline including Soccer, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Netball, Handball, Cross country and Athletics. The Volta Regional Minister, Hon. Henry-Ford Kamel and the Regional Director of Education, Mr. Gabriel Kploayi with other dignitaries’ are expected to grease the occasion. Participating colleges includes; St Francis, St Teresa (Hohoe), Amedzofe, Dambai, Peki, Akatsi and Jasika College of Education. The games promises to ignite the old rivalry between Amedzofe(Ameco) and Peki(Govco) College of Education as other also seek to create one. The Volta regional general secretary of the association Akude Seyram expressed his gratitude to the hosting colleges for the good preparatory work done by putting the playing field and other facilities in good shape for a successful event. He however cautions the participating teams to exhibit high level of sportsmanship during the games as to prevent any interruption. The opening ceremony will be held on Monday 9th April at 2pm with the closing on the 14th April also at 2pm.
