14 Horses To Vie For "Indece Cup"

The Windfall meeting enters its third day at the Accra Race Course tomorrow with the ?Ghana Independence Challenge Cup? as the highlight, writes DAN RANA.

In all, 14 horses will vie for the much coveted trophy and many personalities have been invited to grace the occasion which is part of activities marking Ghana?s 47th independence anniversary celebration. The runners include Sarafina, Alswabru, Macarena Queen, Achimota and Vec II.

Others are Come-On-George, Vanguard, Shedeed, Moni-Ahe Taa Wa, Nice & Cool, Yaa Asantewa, Me And You, Kpela Owo Mli and Raja.The distance is nine-furlongs, an invitation event for Fourth division ?A? and Third division ?B? horses.

Also appearing on the programme are the top class horses who will clash in the ?47th Anniversary Purse. It is an eight-furlong outing which should provide an exciting finish.

The full programme for the meeting is as follows: First race: ?6th March Handicap?, open to Fourth division ?C? and Fourth division ?B? horses over a distance of 7 furlongs

Second race: ?1957 Stakes?, a five-furlong clash for Third division ?A? horses. Third race: ?47th Anniversary Purse? for First and Second division ?A? horses over a distance of 8 furlongs. 4th race: ?Ghana Independence Challenge Cup?, a nine-furlong invitation race for Fourth division ?A? and Third division ?B? horses.

5th race: ?Freedom & Justice Handicap? for second division ?B? horses over a distance of 5 furlongs.
