Bashiru Hayford coach of the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League champions Ashanti Gold says the 2014-2015 was a year the Miners were destined to be champions.

The Obuasi-based club swept almost all trophies before them; ranging from Adansihene Cup to the Otumfuo Cup at the just ended season, and the master behind the club's success says they were destined to win.

“This year is for AshGold, we’ve been able to win four trophies and I think we’ve done very well. It started with Adansihene Cup, then came to GHALCA Top Four, followed by Ghana League and lastly the Otumfuo Cup,” the former Medeama boss told Adom Fm.

Bashir, who has not spared his critics all season says they should be talking about his achievement rather than question his ability to win the league when it matters most.

“This is what you people should be talking about, not useless issues which are worth nothing.” he fumed.

He continued that “those who are doubting that we’re real champions; I think they saw our performance against Kotoko for themselves (in the Otumfuo Cup).

“If it were an European team that has amassed this feat, they'd be hailing them for such splendid performances. It’s high time you start praising the local teams, too, if they achieve same laurels,” Hayford concluded.
