The President and bankroller of relegated side New Edubiase United, Abdul Salam has stated that the just ended 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League season was illegal because Dreams FC was not qualified to be part of the league.

He said “Dreams FC have been demoted to the Division One based on disciplinary grounds which makes them unqualified as well as makes last season league null and void.

“After the declaration by CAS which saw Dreams FC losing the case, it means the Ghana Premier League was illegal because the club was not qualified to play”.

“I lost six points to Dreams FC which also led to our relegation, and since we played against an unqualified team, it makes it illegal. I will be heading to court to place an injunction on the league,” he told Asempa FM.

Dreams FC were demoted to the lower tier league by the FA Appeals Committee for fielding an unqualified player in Division One, two seasons ago.

Earlier on, the FA had ruled the case in favour of Dreams FC but Tema Youth pursued the matter at the Court of Arbitration for Sports, and the Ghana FA were directed to form a new Appeals Committee to sit on the case which Tema Youth won.

Dreams FC have come out to accept the decision to play in Division One and a statement on the club’s website reads “Consequently, notwithstanding the loss of financial resources by Dreams FC and the huge disappointment, it is the decision of the Board of Directors of our club and our legal team (as law abiding cooperate citizens, a model club and a member of the Ghana FA) that Dreams FC will put the interest of Ghana Football ahead of its own interest and accept the purported decision.”
