The 2019 Baboo Sports Tema Tennis Open is in its quarter final stage. The open which started on Saturday, August 3, 2019 saw 160 tennis players competing for honors in seven categories.
The Queens category which happens to be a maiden category has Faustina Tagoe, Augustina Yamak, Kate Coleman, Linda Agyei, Deladem Tanson, Afia Oforiwa Aboagye, Yvonne Bruce Tagoe and Lawyer Veronica qualifying for the quarter finals, the special group which is made up of semi-professional and coaches also has Samuel Rahman Ablor, Job Obimpeh, Jonathan Quaye, Joseph Doe-Adjani, Andrews Appiah, Evans Nii Owuo, Isaac Bempo and Abraham Yamoah qualifying. Ebox hayfron, David Kisseh, Ted Gbesemete, Michael Sarfo, Jesse des Bordes, Godwin Ayindua, Frank de Souza and Isaac Aboagye Duah who happens to be the President of the Ghana Tennis Federation qualifying from the 46-59 age category.
The competition which is slated to end on Saturday, 31st August 2019 at the TOR club house serves as a platform for players to exhibit their skills, socialize, network and also to promote the participation of women in tennis.
Winners in each category will receive a trophy, tennis shoes, tennis accessories and 3months gym access to the Baboo Fitness center. 2nd place will receive tennis bag, 2months gym access at the Baboo Fitness center. Semifinalists will receive tennis apparel and 1months gym access at the Baboo Fitness center. Quarterfinalists will go home with tennis accessories and 1month gym access at the Baboo Fitness center. Winner in the professional category will go home with a cash price of Ghc500, 1st runner up will take home Ghc400, Semi & Quarter finalists will go home with Ghc350 and Ghc200 respectively.
Winners in each category will also get gift vouchers from Royal Nick Hotel, Best western plus Accra beach hotel, Rimatheratouch.
Speaking with the CEO of Baboo Sports Shop, the main organizers on the success of this year’s organization, this is what Mr. Ismaila Lamptey said,
