Former IBF Lightweight champion, Richard Commey has set sights on reclaiming his belt this year after losing it to Teofimo Lopez in December 2019.
Commey lost his belt after suffering a second-round technical knockout in that bout held at the Madison Square Garden.
The Ghanaian boxer who after the fight admitted to making mistakes in the bout, promised to go back to the ‘drawing board’ and work on his weaknesses which were highlighted in the bout.
“Honestly if I told you that I would get hit and go down like that, I will be telling you a lie”, he told reporters after the bout.
“I’ve got bigger shows than Lopez and that’s surprised me but this is it. It happens. Sometimes what you feel will kill you will never kill you but the things that you don’t expect.
“All I have to do now is go back to the drawing board and come back stronger.
Commey in a recent post on his social media handle has hinted about a possible rematch with Teofimo Lopez and is looking to redeem himself as well as win his title back.
“News coming soon on my next fight, 2020 the year of Redemption. I’m looking forward to winning my belt back and becoming a two-time world champion”, the post indicated.
