Asante Kotoko continued their winning streak with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Dreams FC at the Tuba Astroturf in Krokrobite, Accra.
The Porcupine Warriors seized control in the first half, striking twice within three minutes. Yahaya Baba opened the scoring in the 40th minute, tapping home from close range after a well-placed cutback. Saaka Dauda doubled the lead in the 43rd minute, pouncing on a rebound to give Kotoko a commanding advantage.
Dreams FC refused to back down and came out stronger in the second half. Joseph Esso halved the deficit in the 58th minute, setting the stage for a nervy finish. Despite their efforts, Dreams couldn't find the equalizer.
The statistics reflected a balanced encounter, with both sides sharing 50% possession and creating eight goal attempts each. Kotoko, however, had the edge with more shots on target and clinical finishing.
The victory marks Kotoko's third straight win after triumphs over Aduana Stars and Hearts of Oak. They remain three points off the top spot, while Dreams FC languish in the relegation zone.
Kotoko will face GoldStars on Christmas Eve, while Dreams look to bounce back against Berekum Chelsea.
