Asante Kotoko will look to build on their positive start to the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League season when they face newcomers Young Apostles at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium on Sunday.
The match is being relocated due to ongoing maintenance works at Kotoko's usual home, the Baba Yara Stadium.
Kotoko are coming off a 1-0 win over Karela United in their opening match and will be eager to keep their momentum going.
Under the guidance of coach Prosper Ogum, they aim to maintain their strong form and put on an attractive display for their fans.
"We are ready for the game on Sunday against Young Apostles. They are a very good side... We aim to put up a high performance that is attractive and appealing so that our supporters will be motivated," Ogum said in a pre-match press conference.
This match marks the first-ever top-flight meeting between Kotoko and Young Apostles. The visitors, who are experiencing their debut season in the Premier League, have struggled to find their feet, losing 2-0 to Nsoatreman in their opener before a goalless draw with Nations FC. Notably, they are yet to score a goal this season.
Young Apostles coach Asare Bediako acknowledged the team’s challenges in front of goal but remains hopeful: "We’ve been working on scoring, yet the goals are not coming... I’m sure we will score in our next game."
Kotoko will enter the match as favourites, but Young Apostles are looking to upset the odds and secure their first goal and possibly their first win of the season.
