Asante Kotoko will face off against Hearts of Oak in the 2024 Democracy Cup match to commemorate 30 years of parliamentary democracy in Ghana.
The official launch of the Democracy Cup was held by the Parliament Clerk today, June 13, 2024, announcing that the match will take place on Friday, July 5, 2024.
According to the Parliament Clerk, the winner of the tie will face Major League Soccer side, DC United, in Washington, United States of America.
The match, which has been approved by the Ghana Football Association, will be held at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The two prestigious clubs in Ghana will be looking to win the trophy to make up for a disappointing 2023/2024 Premier League campaign where they both went trophyless.
Members of Parliament will play against former Black Stars players in a special curtain-raiser before the kick-off of the Democracy Cup.
Other activities lined up for this monumental event include a peace walk, mock parliamentary sittings, and other fun games.
The Parliament aims to connect with Ghanaians through these activities and encourage them to be engaged in legislative activities.
