Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communication Director Henry Asante Twum has expressed concerns over the fitness of LA Galaxy winger Joseph Paintsil ahead of Ghana’s crucial doubleheader against Sudan.
Paintsil was substituted during LA Galaxy’s match on Sunday, raising doubts about his availability for the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
"There are a few concerns with Joseph Paintsil. He was substituted during LA Galaxy's match, so we’ve contacted the club to get a full report on his fitness," Asante Twum told Peace FM, as monitored by Ghanasoccernet.com.
"Our medical team, led by Dr. Pamboe, always reaches out to clubs to assess the health of players after matches, and we’re awaiting an update before any decisions are made."
Ghana is set to face Sudan in back-to-back matches on October 10 and 15, 2024, with the first leg taking place at Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars, currently third in Group F with one point from two games, must win both matches to boost their chances of qualifying for AFCON 2025 in Morocco.
