2025 AFCON Qualifiers: Ghana sits 3rd in Group F after losing to Angola in opener

The Black Stars currently sit third in Group F following their defeat in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opener.

Ghana on Thursday September 5, 2024, opened their qualifying series with a game against the Palancras Negras at the Baba Yara Stadium.

After a barren first half, Angola scored in the 89th minute after Abdul Mumin failed to clear his lines.

The shocking defeat leaves Ghana in third place with no points, with Angola sitting at the top with the same points as Kwesi Appiah's Sudan.

Meanwhile, Niger sit bottom of the group.

The Black Stars will now prepare to take on Niger in their second Group F game on Monday, September 9 in Berkane.

Otto Addo and his men will aim to record their first win after the shocking defeat at home.
