Dr Randy Abbey, a member of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), has said the Black Stars must secure victories against Sudan in their upcoming doubleheader.
Ghana is set to face the Falcons in the third matchday of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers on Friday, October 11, at the Accra Sports Stadium. This will be followed by a return match on Monday, October 14, at the Martyrs of February Stadium.
The Black Stars started their qualifying campaign on a disappointing note, suffering a 1-0 loss to Angola’s Palancras Negras at Baba Yara Stadium, followed by a 1-1 draw against Niger in Berkane.
As a result, the four-time African champions currently sit in third place with only one point.
In light of these results, Dr Abbey has stated that the matches against Kwesi Appiah's side are critical.
He assured that efforts will be maximized to achieve victories, as it is essential for improving their chances of qualifying for the tournament in Morocco.
“It’s a must-win game," he declared during an interview on Metro TV.
"We have to do everything we can to win that game, we know the consequences if we don’t win.
"So we need to win that and then once we have dealt with that, we will focus on the subsequent games,” he added.
Meanwhile, Otto Addo is expected to announce his squad for the matches later this week.
