Black Stars forward Jordan Ayew has reiterated his commitment to giving his best for the team, even when played out of his preferred position.

The 32-year-old Crystal Palace player made headlines by scoring a hat-trick in Ghana's 4-3 victory over the Central African Republic during Monday night's 2026 World Cup qualifier at Baba Yara Stadium.

In his post-match interview, Ayew discussed his willingness to adapt for the national team.

"I've been playing out of position for quite some time, both in the national team and at the club level. But I have always done my duty, put my country first, and never complained because I always give my all," Ayew stated.

When asked about his preferred position, Ayew explained, "It’s difficult. It's not something that I like to talk about, but obviously, my favorite position, right from the academy in France to the national team, has always been as a number 9. But I understand because I have qualities that allow me to play in pockets of space, and I don't complain."

With his three goals on Monday night, Ayew has now scored 28 goals for Ghana, making him the country's sixth all-time top scorer.

The victory propels the Black Stars to the top of Group I with nine points.
