Ghana remains temporarily at the top of the Group I standings in the African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This follows a goalless draw between Madagascar and Mali on Tuesday afternoon.

In the match played at the FNB Stadium in South Africa, neither side could find the back of the net.

Although Madagascar had to play most of the game with 10 men due to a red card issued to Louis Demoleon, the team managed to defend well, staying in the game and earning one point at full-time.

After the match, Ghana sits atop Group I with 9 points, while Madagascar is in second place with 7 points.

Comoros is in third place with six points and could move to the top with a win over Chad later in the evening.

As things stand, Mali and the Central African Republic are closely following Madagascar in the Group I standings, while Chad remains at the bottom of the pile.
