Jordan Ayew scored a 94th-minute winner for Ghana in the Black Stars' 2026 World Cup qualifier in a 2-1 victory over Mali at the Stade du 26 Mars in Bamako on Thursday, June 6, 2024.
But it was Olympique Lyon man Ernest Nuamah's earlier equalizer that ensured that the Black Stars secured a vital win against the hosts.
The goal came from an ordinary attack by the Black Stars which looked like had been foiled by the Malian defence but just when the Malians looked to clear, a cross was floated into their area.
Nuamah who appeared to have timed the cross came from behind the Malian defender and with a thumping header buried the ball in the back of the net.
The hosts largely dominated in the first half grabbing their goal in added time of the first half when Kamory Doumbia scored.
Per GhanaWeb checks, the goal is Nuamah's fourth for the Black Stars after bagging his first in the World Cup qualifier against Central African Republic in September 2024.
The Black Stars now have six points from three games in Group I and are set to host Central African Republic in their next fixture in the coming week.
Others in their group include Comoros, Madagascar and Chad.
