2026 World Cup qualifiers: Playing our home games away from home a problem – Sudan coach Kwesi Appiah

Sudan's national team coach, Kwesi Appiah, has stated that playing their home games away from home due to the war situation has posed a challenge.

Despite these difficulties, Sudan remains unbeaten in their four 2026 World Cup qualifiers, securing three wins and one draw.

This impressive streak has vaulted Sudan to the top of Group B, with 10 points, placing them two points clear of Senegal, the winners of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

"The major issue is that all our home games are effectively away games because we have to travel to Libya to play our two home matches," Appiah explained to Collins Okinyo.

"We don't even know yet where we will be sent to play our next games. On the other hand, I must say the players have performed admirably so far.

"In the first two games we played, we were lucky to have three professionals."

Looking forward, Sudan is set to compete against Senegal in their upcoming qualifier, with the goal of strengthening their lead at the top of the group.
