Management of Nestle Ghana Limited, a leading beverage manufacturing company in Ghana, has launched the 29th edition of the Accra Milo Marathon.

Over 10,000 athletes will compete for various honours in the prestigious athletics event Accra Milo Marathon come September for over GHC200,000 worth of prizes in cash and products.

This year’s edition is being held without the U-15 Category but Athletes could still have the chance to compete in the non-competitive fun run covering 5-kilometres which seeks to to encourage family work out and physical activity lifestyle among the general public.

The Fun Run will see the distribution of 10,000 training boots to some deprived schools and underprivileged children.

The organisers of the annual event, Dansoman Keep Fit Club have enjoyed mutually beneficial relationship with Nestle Ghana Limited, with the Milo Beverage Brand as a Title Sponsor.

With over 1,500 membership and over 30-years of existence has within the past 29 years received immense financial support from Nestle Ghana Limited, in terms of sponsorship for the event.

The Dansoman Keep Fit Club would once again host the event with support from the Ghana Police Service, Duraplast, Voltic Mineral Water, Hollard Insurance, AMA, Junction Mall among others.

Speaking at the launch, Human Resource Manager of Nestle Ghana, Antoinette Arkoh, said the annual Marathon has established itself as one of Africa’s leading marathons.

She said the event affirmed her outfit’s commitment to support the discovery and nurturing of a high caliber of sporting talents for Ghana.

“Nestle Ghana is committed to supporting the unearthing of talents and encouraging young people to aspire to get to the ultimate using sports as a tool,” Ms. Arkoh added.

The Minister of Tourism, Mrs. Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, who graced the event said the Accra Milo Marathon would indeed boost the tourism fortunes of Ghana

since athletes will come from all over the world to compete.

"I look into the future with the hope that the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Arts would come onboard as a key partner to promote sports and tourism since the event is a potential world class sports event," the minister said.
