The 4th Presidents Cup and Chess Championship has started at the Accra Sports Stadium with more youthful players taking part.
At stake is a total prize package of 16, 500 Ghana Cedis and other consolation prizes.
According to the President of the Ghana Chess Association Group Captain Aku Dadzie, this year’s event is to encourage more students to participate and improve their skills.
The programme which began on Friday 27th June is expected to end on 1st July at the same venue.
Sponsors of the event include Kasparov Chess Foundation in Africa, UT Bank and Reisseco.
The president of the Ghana Chess Association urged the media to promote the discipline as it will help the kids and youth to polish their English language and spelling skills.
