Matchday 9 of the ongoing Ghana Premier League was honoured across all match venues and was not an improvement on matchday 8 in terms of goals.

Matchday 8 produced 20 goals while day 9 got a deficit of 5 goals after a recording a total of 15 goals from the various league centres.

GhanaWeb.com looks at 6 things we learned from this weekend round of matches.

Yahaya Mohammed tamed in Dormaa

The king of Dormaa after scoring in his first 4 home games at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park in Dormaa was tamed by goalkeeper Richard Arthur and his two centre-backs, Mohammed Alhassan and Robert Addo Sowah.

The Aduana Stars top scorer was silenced in the game which resulted in his side inability to score. The Phobians effort in shutting out Yahaya helped them in getting a point from that game.

Yahaya who has eight goals in 9 games has proven to be the main source of goals for the 'Oga Boys'.

Chelsea continues to ship in goals

After going on a five-game streak without conceding in the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League, Berekum Chelsea resolute rearguard has begun to crack and they now keep conceding goals as they were hammered at the Papa Kwesi Ndoum Park by Elmina Sharks.

They now occupy the fifth position on the league table and will have to find a remedy to their leaking defence if they have any hopes of winning the league.

Liberty's away invisibility broken

The Scientific Soccer Lads of Dansoman tasted their first away defeat in the league at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium.

The Dansoman based club was undone by a lone goal after Appiah McCarthy converted a penalty in the first half.

WAFA, on the other hand, continued their fine away form as they had a 1-1 drawn game at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium against Kumasi King Faisal.

Theatre of Dreams, Dawu collapsed

One of the factors that made Dreams FC a force to reckon with was their home ground which was a fortress to all the other Premier League teams but after beating King Faisal and Medeama SC by 4-1 and 1-0 respectfully, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko have washed that fear factor away.

The two glamorous clubs in the league both beat Dreams FC by a lone goal while Legon Cities FC also got a point after a stalemate in Dawu.

New Hattrick hero

Benjamin Boateng netted a hat-trick for Elmina Sharks to sink Berekum Chelsea in the deep blue seas of Elmina on Sunday.

Boateng becomes the second player to get a hattrick in the ongoing campaign after Aduana's Yahaya Mohammed scored three goals against Inter Allies on matchday one.

King Faisal awaits victory

The Premier League returnees are still waiting for their first win in the 2019/20 Ghana Premier League after having to come back to equalize a first half WAFA goal to earn.

After 9 rounds of games so far in the season, they have accumulated four points out of the possible 27 points after losing five games and drawing the remaining four.

The interesting thing about King Faisal is that they have scored the number of the same number of goals with the league leaders Aduana Stars (12 goals) but the difference separating the two sides is the goals conceded as King Faisal have conceded 20 goals while Aduana has shipped in 6.
