Algiers, July 15, GNA - Ghana's hopes for a medal at the 9th All Africa games in Algiers appear dashed as the Spikers lost their second match on the trot at Blida, 35 kilometres from Algiers, on Sunday. The Ghanaians succumbed to South Africa 3-1 to at least record a single game victory, after losing to the Congo by 3-0 on Saturday. Against the South Africans, the Ghanaians went behind early in the first game and try as they did to recover, their efforts met a brick wall in the South African tactics and they lost by 20-25. The second game was a bit favourable to the Spikers but they failed once more to hold their own when it mattered most and bowed 23-25 to give the South Africans a two-nil advantage.
Ghana won the third game at 25-23 to give hope to team officials but soon lacked the character to turn the tide, thus losing the fourth game 19-25 to deliver victory to the South Africans. Team coach Erasmus Adokor said he was disappointed at the performance of his team. 15 July 07
