Kumasi: 9 June Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat local rivals King Faisal 3-1 in their match played at the Kumasi sports Stadium. Ironically it was King Faisal who scored first in the 32nd minute. Goalkeeper Ahmed Saeed of Kotoko failed to grab a goal bound shot from left winger Abubakari Sadick and inside left Rush Omondi, who was around shot the rebound into the roof of the net. Kotoko equalised in the 40th minute through centre forward Noble Tadika whose grounder from a free-kick on the edge of the "18" deflected off the body of a defender and sailed into the net to bring the half time scores at 1-1. Kotoko scored two more goals in the second half, one on the stroke of time through outside right Kwadwo Anane, who nodded home a free-kick taken by substitute Felix Adu Boahene in the 90th minute. After the goal some players of King Faisal rushed on the refree and in the process right full back Ibrahim Gariba was shown the red card. Kotoko sealed the doom of Faisal with their third goal, five minutes inside injury time through another free-kick taken on the edge of the penalty box by full back Annor Kofi. The match betweeen Okwawu United and Dawu Youngsters at Nkawkaw was rained off. Koforidua-based FIFA referee Nicholas Dwumoah post- poned the match at end of the first half to tomorrow at the same venue following heavy rain from the 36th minute. There were no rpt no goals when the game was cancelled.
