AFAB donates Baseball equipment to Ashanti Region

Albert Frimpong, President of the Ghana Baseball Association has commended the Japan government and the Association for Friends of African Baseball (AFAB) for donation various equipments for Baseball at an impressive ceremony at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.

He said Baseball is one of the sports disciplines that require massive financial support because the equipments are special and expensive.

According to Albert Frimpong who has keen interest for the development of the sport in Africa, there is the interest and motivation for Baseball and much must be done by the Ghana Education Service and the National Sports Authority.

He commended the media for promoting the sport in its small ways and promised to organize a media workshop to sensitise and educate the sports media on the rules and regulations of the game.

Frimpong said the AFAB has been very helpful by donations over the years and 2014 is the fourth time they are receiving item from Japan.

He promised to take Baseball to the other towns like Sunyani, Kumasi, Ho, Takoradi, Cape Coast, Tamale and Koforidua.

“We have targeted the junior and senior high schools and we shall get there” he said.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Baseball Association has been able to put up a modern Baseball pitch at Labone SHS.

Saka Akwei, Sports Development Officer at the Ashanti Region congratulated the GBA President for developing and promoting the sport in Ghana.
