Ahead of Ghana’s African Cup of Nations opener against Benin, Black Stars captain Andre Dede Ayew is optimistic that the Black Stars will make history in Egypt.
Ayew was part of the Ghana U20 side that made history by winning the World Cup in the same country a decade ago, and he is hoping to make another history with the Black Stars
“Yes I led Ghana to make history here in 2009 and it started here in Ismailia,” he told the media at the pre-match presser.
“When I came here I surely had memories of this place but this is a different competition.
“We are here for something different and we are ready to make history again,” he added.
Ghana will face the Squirrels of Benin on Tuesday in their first game of the competition before taking on Cameroon and Guinea-Bissau in the second and third group games respectively.
