Despite the massive optimism of Ghana ending the 37 years AFCON-trophy drought, former Ghana midfielder Cargo Mohammed says he’s unsure that Ghana will be able to lift the trophy.
The former Dortmund and Bayern Munich midfielder complains that the team has not enjoyed very good preparations in Dubai ahead of the tournament.
Cargo who also played for Udinese insisted the three weeks preparation isn’t enough for the team to win the ultimate unless something extraordinary happens.
“We (Ghana Black Stars) lacked enough preparation prior to this competition,” he told Light Sports.
“Tournaments require excessive preparation and considering this current Black Stars team, they didn’t have enough.
“It will be very difficult for Ghana to win the AFCON but as for football anything can happen,” he noted.
But he quickly added that the team looks promising and the unthinkable can happen since football is full of uncertainties.
“Coach Kwasi Appiah should try and manage this squad, and I believe the sky will be our limit.
“Although there are heavyweights like Senegal, Ivory Coast, Egypt, we(Ghana) should have that believe and trust of winning,” he added.
