Head coach of the Black Stars of Ghana, Otto Addo, has announced that West Ham United forward Mohammed Kudus will be the captain of the Black Stars in the 2025 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers against Sudan.
The coach believes that Kudus’ outstanding performances for the Black Stars, coupled with his leadership qualities, will help the team in their game against Sudan.
“Mohammed Kudus will captain the Black Stars against Sudan,” he said during the pre-match press conference on October 9, 2024, as reported by Joy Sports.
The decision was made following the absence of substantive captain Andre Dede Ayew, who was called up to join the squad, and also his deputy Thomas Partey, who could not join the team due to injury.
Addo assured that the team is well prepared and ready to secure the three points in the game.
Ghana will play Sudan on October 10, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The Black Stars' doubleheader against Sudan will have a major impact on Ghana’s chances of qualifying for the 2025 AFCON after failing to win their first two games.
Ghana occupies the third position with one point in Group F of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers after two matches.
