Players of Army Officers Mess Tennis Club(AMTEC) from Accra extended their unbeatable run to the Eastern region where they ousted Koforidua Tennis Club 8-2 in a special Friendly competition over the weekend at the Koforidua Sports Club.

AMTEC put up one of the outstanding performances in recent times by first defeating the host team 2-1 in the singles, before dismissing them with a 5-1 win in the doubles.

AMTEC’s golden boy Sayibu Sammy set the ball rolling with a 7-2 win over 2018 National Ranking Tour 5 Champion Samuel Antwi. whiles the talisman Cedric Dzelu, the man on form gave Army Officers their highest score with 7-1 win over Koforidua Tennis Club’s captain Kwasi Ahiale.

Coach Samuel Appiah 7-3 win over Eddy Addo gave the home team some hope.

In the doubles event: Surprisingly, Former Army Tennis Club President Lt. Col. Akoto and Sacrassoro Baly lost their doubles game, although the pair preformed creditably during the match. The pair lost 7-6(6), described as one of the best games in the competition.

The visitors bounced back quickly as Ben Amankwah and his partner Eddy Addo beating Godwin Ahindua and Bernard Agama 7-2.

Another win for the visiting team as Major Eugene Gaga paired Franks Ben to trash Alex Kwapong/Samuel Owusu 7-0. Captain of Army Officers Tennis Felix and Cedric Dzelu did not disappoint the club(AMTEC) as they wallop Ishmael Lamtey and Richmond Kotey 7-2.

Ghana Tennis Federation President Isaac Aboagye Duah who also doubles as Army Officers Tennis Club Financial Secretary paired up with Col. Elikem but their opponents Owusu Boadi and Isaac Atteh retired when their were up by 1-0.

The last game for the day came to end prematurely as Kevin Dodze and Sampson Sayibu took 5-3 lead against coach Samuel Appiah and Club captain Akwasi Ahiale.
