ANOPA Project shows class at national swimming championships

The ANOPA (Agoro ne Obra Pa) Project a Sport for Development NGO showed class in the recently held national swimming championships in Kumasi by winning four medals in the four day competition.

The Anopahins as their swimming team is known, won one gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the boys 100 meters breaststroke, boys 50 meter breaststroke, girls 50 meter breaststroke and boys 50 meter freestyle respectively.

Shankara Atta Mensah Nunoo won gold in the boys 100 meters breaststroke and silver in the boys 50 meter breaststroke event with Angel Taryn Aggrey winning bronze in the girls 50 meter breaststroke while Emmanuel Mensah won bronze boys 50 meter freestyle.

Following his feat, Shankara Atta Mensah Nunoo emerged the national best under 10 years old boys champion and he looks forward to going even higher in the years to come.

Public Relations Officer of the ANOPA Project, Sarah Naa Lankai Lamptey appreciated the efforts of her outfit in these championships and praised the swimmers for causing such a sensation at the event as they showcased their talents.

We believe we have made a great impact at these championships and look forward to future events with high hopes as we continue to highlight the efforts we put in unearthing talents and making great impacts through sports.

She expressed profound gratitude to all who supported their participation in the Kumasi championships and hoped for more collaboration in the future as they seek to imprint positively the good effects of swimming to Ghanaians.

The ANOPA (Agoro ne Obra Pa) Project a Sport for Development NGO based in Cape Coast and its core mandate is to offer life and leadership skills to children and young adults through sports in schools and communities.

The NGO uses seven different sports (swimming, basketball, taekwondo, volleyball, soccer, tennis and handball) as a mobilization tool, with the aim of impacting children and young adults positively.
