Cape Coast, April 24, GNA - The Central Regional branch of the Association of Sports Broadcasters of Ghana (ASBOG) on Saturday warned that it would be forced to boycott covering the rest of the GT Premier League matches if club officials do not stop harassing its members. Subsequently, it has appealed to club officials to be circumspect in their dealings with the media especially during matches.

The association condemned the actions of Alhaji Sulemana, Executive Member of Dwarfs who was alleged to have beaten up Mr Asante Fokuo, a sports presenter of Atlantic FM during the Dwarfs-Ashantigold mid-week match.

Alhaji Sulemana was alleged to have prevented Fokuo from entering the stadium to cover the match although the presenter had produced his press card. Apparently angered by the presenter's insistence to enter the stadium, Alhaji Sulemana physically assaulted.

A statement signed by Mr. Oti-Asirifi Mensah Joseph, Acting President of the branch described the "assault on our member as uncivilized and barbaric".

It said the assault on Fokuo was an attack on the entire membership of ASBOG "and we will in future not compromise with such animalistic behaviour from club officials".
