Coach Saloum Mohammed, head coach of Mali female national team has revealed that, Ghana's inability to qualify from the group phase of the Total Africa Women's Cup of Nations resulted in low patronage of the tournament.
Speaking to the press after losing 4-2 to Cameroon in the third-place match of the AWCON at the Cape Coast, said the host bow out really cost a lot in the campaign for France 2019 World cup slot.
"Our snatch away of joy from Ghana by booking the qualification had effect on the tournament".
"After the host, Ghana got evicted from the Total Africa Women's Cup of Nations attendance at the various stadia has being very poor"Timing of the tournament wasn't the best for African football, a lot of people especially students don't really has time to visit the stadium"Because most of them has to visit relatives in this point in time".
Mali though made history by qualifying from the group stage for the first time since the establishment of the tournament.Getting to play in a third place match in the 2018 AWCON held in Ghana.
