Ouagadougou Kimi Charity Cup
Barcelona top striker Lionel Messi, Samuel Eto’o and Didier Drogba are among the top players invited to take part at a charity event in Burkina Faso capital Ouagadougou on June 16, the country’s ministry of sport said on Thursday. The annual Kimi Charity Gala, initiated by the wife of Burkina Faso national assembly president Sika Kaboré, raises focus on preventive healthcare across the West African arid nation.
Organisers said beside the above mentioned stars, Yaya Toure, Emmanuel Adebayor, Seydou Kéita, André and Jordan Ayew and retired footballers Abedi Pelé, Basile Boly and Antoine Kombouaré had confirmed their participation in a football match against Burkina Faso national team at the Stade du 4-Août in Ouagadougou.
The charity match tagged “World Stars United for Preventive Healthcare†will be used to raise funds for local hospitals and to purchase generic drugs against malaria, malnutrition and cholera, according to a spokesperson for the Kimi Association.
