Abedi named Golden Foot legend

Former Ghana captain, Abedi Ayew Pele has been named as international football legend at the Golden Foot 2011 awards.

On a night where Ryan Giggs won the Golden foot 2011 award, the FC Nania owner and coach joined four new legends at the ceremony in Monte Carlo on Monday night.

Abedi together with Luis Figo (Portugal), Ruud Gullit (Holland), Rabah Madjer (Algeria) and Javier Zanetti (Argentina) were presented with the international football career awards while

The Golden Foot award is an international career award only for at least 29-year-old football players, who stand out for their sport results (both as single players and with their team), for their personality and for the esteem of the public and football experts.

The winner of the award leaves a permanent mould of his footprints on "The Champions Promenade", a sort of "Walk of Fame" of the international football on the seafront of the Principality of Monaco.
