Ghana legend Ayew Pele will not be making an appearance the CAF Confederation Cup as coach after his club Nania FC pulled out of this year's event at the last minute.
Nania were due to take on Guinea side Sequence FC in the first round of what would have been their debut season in Africa after they won the Ghana FA Cup last season.
But the club say they are unable to meet the heavy financial cost involved after their proposed sponsors pulled out at the last minute.
The late pull out from the Confederation Cup has become an all too familiar option for Ghanaian clubs and Nania are bound to face heavy sanctions from continental football governing body CAF as a result.
It leaves Berekum Chelsea as the only Ghanaian club in this year's African club competitions.
