Accam scores in Chicago Fire draw

David Accam played 90 minutes as Chicago Fire secured a 2-2 draw away at Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer.

Two Kei Kamara goals inside the first hour gave the home side a 2-0 victory inside the first hour.

However, the Fire steadily silenced the 13,118 inside the MAPFRE Stadium with a fine comeback.

Accam was influential as the Fire fought back into the contest; he scored with a header on 58 minutes to half the deficit forged by his friend Kei Kamara and was a lively presence on the left-hand side of Fire’s 4-2-3-1 formation.

The Jamaiacan found himself in space at the back of the penalty area and sent a powerful header past Steve Clark.

The late goal was almost an exact inverse from Fire’s last match, when it was they who conceded in second-half stoppage time to drop two points against New York City FC last weekend.

While Crew’s Kamara—with his impressive brace—undoubtedly stole the show, Accam was a key man for Fire and one of the game’s outstanding individuals.

The 24-year-old contributed three key passes, two shots on target and contributed three crosses, two of which were accurate, according to WhoScored.

While the Fire will be delighted with their late goal, they have now gone four games without a victory and have slumped to sixth in the Eastern Conference. They remain four points behind their opponents Columbus Crew, having played a game less.
