Accra International Open Polo Slated for Dec. 17

Accra, Dec. 11, GNA--This year's Accra International Open Polo Championship takes place at the Accra Polo Grounds in Accra on Wednesday, December 17, and ends on Sunday, December 21. Mr Kwakye Dopoa-Dei, Captain of the Accra Polo Club, who announced this in Accra on Thursday, said eight clubs were expected to participate in the five-day event. He named the clubs as Prime Concrete, WDP, Rubicon, Vanguard Assurance, WDP Youth, The Professionals, Line Trale and Trafigura. Mr Dopoa-Dei said professional players from Argentina, South Africa, Nigeria, New Zealand, Columbia and Egypt would also participate in the competition.

The Captain named some of the players expected to feature for Prime Concrete as Augustine Miguel Andrada and George Agyeman. He added that players to be seen in action for Trafigura team would include Brett Wastin and Lance Watsin. Mr Dopoah-Dei said this year's event was going to be an improvement on last year's, following the preparation being put in place by the management.

He expressed the hope that players would exhibit their "horsemanship" to make the event a memorable one. At stake is the giant trophy donated by the Accra Polo Club. 11 Dec. 08
