Accra Polo Championship begins on Dec. 17

Accra, Dec. 15, GNA - All is set for this year's Accra International Open Polo Championship at the Accra Polo Grounds on Wednesday, December 17.

Mr Kwakye Dopoah-Dei, Captain of the Accra Polo Club, who announced this in Accra on Monday, said eight clubs are expected to participate in the five-day event, which would end on December 21. The clubs are, Prime Concrete, Rubicon, WDP Youth, Vanguard Assurance, Line Trale, WDP, The Professionals and Trafigura. Mr Dopoah-Dei said professionals from South Africa, Nigeria, Argentina, Egypt and New Zealand were also expected to take part. The Captain named some of the players to be feature in the event as Augustine Miguel Andrada, George Agyeman, Matthew de Gesipny and Craig James, all of Prime Concrete.

Brette Watson, Lance Waston, Jail Ibrahim and Damian Duncan are also expected to feature for Trafigura. Mr Dopoah-Dei said the performance put up by the participants in last year's competition was very encouraging and expressed the hope that this year's tournament would see a higher level of play. Guaranty Trust Bank (GT Bank) won the competition last year.
