Accra to host 2009 Glo-Caf Awards

The Glo-CAF Awards 2009, which distinguish the best African footballers, initially set at Dakar on 25 February were reported March 11 in Accra, Ghana, today announced the Confederation of African football.

The Glo-CAF Awards 2009, which distinguish the best African footballers, initially set at Dakar on 25 February were reported March 11 in Accra, Ghana, today announced the Confederation of African football. This is the 2-nd time Dakar announced to host the ceremony was finally abandoned in favor of another African capital. In 2008 during the coronation of Togo's Emmanuel Adebayor, the ceremony was held in Dakar before held in Lagos, the headquarters of the phone company, sponsor of the event. For this edition, the organizers announced that''the change of date and venue aims to enable the various nominees to honor their presence that ceremony.'' The Ghanaian capital will host, for the second time this event it had already hosted in March 2007 with the coronation of the Ivorian Didier Drogba. This is one of the nominees for Best African footballer in 2009 with his compatriot Yaya Toure (Barcelona), Seydou Keita of Mali, Cameroon's Samuel Eto'o Fils and Ghanaian Michael Essien.
