Accra, Jan.3, GNA-Achimota Golf Club will begin this year's activities with the Ecobank Golf competition on Saturday, January 10. Mr Samuel Adetola, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club who briefed the GNA Sports in Accra on Saturday, announced that the one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition is expected to attract more than 200 participants.
He said the competition would be opened to both amateur and professional golfers from Achimota, Tema, Celebrity, Windy Bay and Bok Nam Kim Golf clubs, as well as invited guests of Ecobank Ghana Limited. Mr Adetola said the event would be played under the rules of the Royal Ancient Golf Club of Scotland, the World's golf governing body and the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club, with Handicap 18 as the entry requirements for the Men while that of the Ladies is pegged at Handicap 27.
The Professionals will start their 36-Hole two-day competition on Friday, January 9 to end on January 10. Mr Albert Essien, Managing Director and Mr E.P.L.Gyampoh, Board Chairman, of Ecobank are to be the special guests of honor.
