US-based goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey has confirmed he will be making a return to the Black Stars in next month’s friendly against Canada.
The 28-year-old has ended a 16-month self-imposed exile from the Ghana national team after falling out with the team’s goalkeeper’s trainer Nassam Yakubu.
Kwarasey accused Nassam Yakubu of unfair treatment in terms of selection for the first choice role during the 2014 World Cup.
The Portland Timbers goalkeeper has since made himself unavailable for national team selection, claiming he was not ready to stage a return.
But Kwarasey has now confirmed he will be honouring the latest invitation handed him for Ghana’s international friendly match against Canada to be played in Washington on October 13.
“Yes I will travel to Washington with the team,” the former Stromsgodset captain confirmed.
“They’ve called me and we will see what happens.
“At least there has been dialogue and we will see what happens.”
Kwarasey made his Ghana debut in a 2012 AFCON qualifier against Swaziland back in 2011 having represented Norway in a non-competitive game at junior level.
He went on to become the first choice goalkeeper for the Black Stars at the 2012 AFCON in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea and has been with the team since until his fallout with goalkeeper’s trainer at the 2014 World Cup.
