Ghana goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey made it ten clean-sheets in the MLS as his Portland Timbers side beat David Accam’s Chicago Fire 1-0 at home on Friday night.
Kwarasey was untroubled by Fire for the large portions of the match and Accam had to replaced by compatriot Patrick Nyarko on 43 minutes.
A broken play was the difference in a match that featured few golden chances for either side. Fanendo Adi tapped in from close range three minutes into the second half after a Diego Valeri cross was deflected at the near post for the game’s loan goal.
The victory – ending a four-game winless streak that included just two goals – moves Portland into fourth place in the Western Conference, pending the weekend’s games, with 36 points from 24 games.
