Kumasi Asante Kotoko defender, Ahmed Adams disagrees with claims that his side lost the opening day match in the Ghana Premier League to WAFA because they were not familiar with the Astroturf.

Two goals in each half from Charles Boateng and Samuel Yeboah gave the Porcupine Warrior their first shock of the season.

But the experienced Local Black Stars defender insists that almost all his team mates have trained and played on the Astroturf before and that cannot be the reason for their loss.

Ahmed believes that they lost the game to WAFA because they had a bad day and not because they struggled to play on the Astroturf.

Responding to the claims, Ahmed said “No. Most people are saying we lost to WAFA because of the Astroturf but that is not the case.”

“This is not the first time Kotoko players are playing on an Astroturf. We used to train on turf at Tema when we are in the national team camp. I will say it was hard luck,” Ahmed added when speaking to GHANAsoccernet.com
