Accra, Feb 17, GNA - Ghana international David Addy, is relishing a regular playing time in the senior national team, the Black Stars after his impressive performance in the last international friendly against Togo.

Addy, one of the few left footers for the left back position in the Black Stars set up said in an interview with GNA Sports that even though there may be several challenges in his quest to pick a regular place in the team, he is determined to go the extra mile for the position.

The defender, a member of the victorious National Under-20 team that won the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) World Cup in Egypt said he is looking forward to more call ups from the handlers of the national team, as the Stars prepare to play England and DR Congo next month.

According to the player, featuring in the senior national team has always been his dream and the only way to keep up a place in the team was to step up his training regimen to merit regular invitations in future.

Addy, however, conceded that playing for the Black Stars comes with a lot pressure following the impressive performance of the team at the Nations Cup and the World Cup in Angola and South Africa respectively, hence any player who is given the opportunity to wear the national colours must work hard to justify the confidence reposed in him.

He conceded that even though he is keen on keeping a regular place in the team, much will depend on the decisions of the technical handlers, but added that, "I'm up to the task".

On his club career, the player expressed satisfaction with his output at Academica De Coimbra, Portugal, saying, "I have been playing regularly here and this has improved my performance tremendously.

"I hope to keep it up till the end of the season, since a lot of issues will be at play at the end of the season". He stated.

On his future with Academica De Croimbra, the defender, who is on loan from FC Porto noted that much will depend on his Club's decision to either retain him or let him go.

"If they ask me to rejoin them after the season then I will do so, but if I'm asked to stay with my present club, I will stay on to help them in the competition.

Addy gained his call into the senior national team in 2008 when Ghana played against Lesotho, but has been in and out of the team until in recent times. With the search for a natural left footer for the left back position in the national team, Addy looks a favourite, taking into consideration his experience with the national under-20 side at the last World Cup.
