Adebayor reveals why Semenyo keeps seeking his advice

Former Togo captain Emmanuel Adebayor has revealed that Ghana forward Antoine Semenyo regularly seeks his advice as he continues his career at Manchester City.

According to Adebayor, Semenyo often approaches him for guidance on how to handle challenges, and he has urged the forward to remain patient and trust in his ability.

“He always asks me, ‘B bro, how can I do this? How can I work on this?’ And all I keep telling him is, keep your head on your shoulders and keep working hard,” Adebayor said.

He added that Semenyo should not allow pressure or criticism to affect his confidence, stressing that Manchester City would not have signed him without carefully assessing his qualities.

“If they bought you from Man City, a lot of people would say, ‘Oh, he’s not good. He’s not good enough for Man City, But the club on its own, they have maybe 50 or 100 meetings before deciding to bring a player in,” he said.

“For me, you have the talent. You just have to believe in your quality and play without the pressure," he noted.

Adebayor also recalled watching Semenyo in a game between Manchester City and Arsenal last season, saying he understands the difficulties of adapting to a new squad filled with experienced players.

“He’s struggling a little bit, but he will get there. Obviously, he’s new to this Man City squad. He’s new to being with big players,” Adebayor added.

“He just has to adapt himself, listen to the older players and the most experienced players in the team to learn from them. At some point, the tide will turn around and you will be the best and you will be the key player for the team,”he said.
