Adjei-Darko makes early arrival

The foreign based contingent of the golden racquets is expected in the country by the weekend. Ghana?s number one seed, US-based Henry Adjei-Darko will be the first to arrive in the country when he touches down tomorrow July 13.

Adjei-Darko who recently made it into the main draw of the qualifiers for Wimbledon has been very active on the ATP tour playing in Challengers in the US. He told CITI FM shortly before emplaning that he had to abandon some tournaments to respond to national call and according to him ?it?s always a great pleasure to play for my country and even though I will lose some ATP points, it?s an honour to be called to national duty?.

?I will have to get back on the tour soon after the Davis Cup to defend my points from last year and amass more?. He added that ?the race at the top is pretty tough and I can?t afford to relax?.

UK-based Gunther Darkey is also expected in the country on Friday July 14 and will be joined by Salifu Mohammed on Sunday. They?re expected to immediately join their local counterparts in camp in Winneba.

The team will leave the shores of the country on July 19 for Botswana to acclimatise to the weather in the southern Africa country.
