Aduana Stars unhappy over GPL postponement as Africa campaign beckons

Chief Executive Officer of Aduana Stars Albert Yahaya Commey has intimated they wanted to use the Ghana Premier League as a preparatory game for their upcoming CAF Champions League campaign.

The commencement of the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League has been placed under a heavy doubt following an injunction notice served to the Ghana Football Association by Great Olympics on Monday.

And Aduana Stars capo, Albert Commey, has fumed at the unfortunate situation after stating that his outfit wanted to use the league campaign to sharpen their rough edges as they bid to make a meaningful impact in the competition.

“This weekend we are going to play in Africa, so we were thinking we’d be having an outstanding game and our target was to use that as a preparatory game for the Africa we are playing in,” Commey told the media.

“The week is still young, maybe tomorrow they will be going to court to argue the case out and so we keeping our fingers crossed.”

The former Accra Hearts of Oak member then added despite the disappointment of the injunction, the team is still determined to excel in Africa.

“To every play A, there is plan B and so when the league doesn’t start we will see what we can do, to keep us going. We are very determined and no matter what we will keep fighting. However, if the league was in session it would have helped us.”

Aduana Stars will engage Libyan side Al Tahadi in the first leg of the preliminary round on Friday, February 9, but the game has been scheduled to come off in Egypt following the unstable political situation Libya.
