Despite being punched to a pulp and losing two of his teeth in an unprovoked beating by his playmate, Derick Sasraku on Saturday morning at their training ground, Aduana Stars’ Elvis Opoku says that, they are still best.
Elvis Opoku, disclosed to FootballMadeInGhana.com that in an exclusive interview that, he’s forgiven Derick Sasraku adding that, he nonetheless considers him his best friend. Elvis explained Sasraku’s senseless attack.
“I don’t know what came over him. The issue was not even between the two of us. It was between Zakaria Mumuni and Stephen Anokye Badu. I went in to calm nerves. This is how I ended up but I’ve forgiven him” Elvis said.
The kindhearted player who initially denied the story because he didn’t want Aduana Stars supporters to vent their anger on his colleague, admitted that, he’s on good terms with Derick, who has reportedly called and also sent a WhatsApp message to apologise for his act.
Despite having difficulties eating, especially when biting because he’s lost two of his front tooth, Elvis insists Derick is his best friend.
“He is still my best friend. As friends, these things normally happen. That’s what tests the strength of your friendship. I don’t want him to be down because we need him on Sunday against the Algerians as we strive to qualify to the next stage of the CAF Champions League.”
FootballMadeInGhana.com understand that, Elvis Opoku’s father wanted to report the matter to the Police but he had to intervene. “My family was furious after hearing about the incident. Especially my dad. He wanted to take up the matter with the police but I said no.”
“It’s happened and it’s in the past. No amount of talk will put my lost teeth back. We’ve to move on as a team to ensure that we qualify to the money zone of the CAF Champions League” he added.
