Aduana vs Kotoko: Porcupines seek to turn fortunes

Kotoko will be without captain Amos Frimpong for Sunday’s clash against Aduana Stars in matchday six of the Ghana Premier League at Agyeman Badu Park in Dormaa Ahenkro.

Frimpong picked a red card last weekend in their win against second-tier side AK Shion in the FA Cup round of 64.

Kotoko would be eyeing the maximum points to salvage their waning campaign, after recording just five points from five games. However, Frank Sarfo Gyamfi, who is eyeing his debut league game this season after returning from a long injury layoff, believes they will survive without their captain.

"We're full of confidence even in the absence of our captain. Obviously, we are coming off two wins in a row now in all competitions [a win over Hasaacas and AM Shion], so we'll take that confidence into the game on against Aduana," Gyamfi told Goal.

"We're looking to get the result to continue to show that the season won't be a bad one for us despite the slow start. Aduana are going to be trying to do the same at home, but the game is not the be-all or end-all, but it would add to the great momentum we have at the moment if we could beat them," he added.

However, Aduana will also hope to record their second win after picking only four points in five games. New manager Aristica Cioaba seems to have brought back the lost voice after the hosts lost their first three games, leading to the departure of former manager and assistant Nurudeen Ahmed and and Rahman Ameyaw respectively.

Last season, Kotoko suffered a 1-0 defeat at the same facility on opening day but thumbed Aduana 4-0 in the reserve fixture.
