Africa Golden Gloves Warrior Championship set for March 18

Accra, March 8, GNA - The maiden edition of the African Golden Gloves Warrior (AGGW) Boxing Championship takes place at the Prisons Canteen, Cantonments on Friday, March 18.

The boxing event, which is being organized by the Dade Boxing Promotion Syndicate is geared towards the unearthing of talents and development of the sport in the country.

Gideon Quartey, President of AGGW told GNA Sports that his outfit has lined up a press conference on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at the same venue to outline the details of the event to the general public. According to the President, a number of selected boxing gyms within the national capital, Accra and its environs have confirmed their participation in the event, which will bring together some of the nation's finest amateur and professional boxers.

The AGGW is the latest sanctioning boxing body committed to the development of boxing in Africa through regular championships, provision of infrastructure and training programmes for both officials and boxers.
