THE dream of Friday Felix the Nigerian bantain weight boxing champion to hold an African title may come to reality on December 15, in Lagos, when he fights Ghana's Anyetei Laryea. Both fights are being drawn into confrontation for the title courtesy of Krock international Boxing promotions "now my chance has come to wear the African title. but my real target is the world title and the commonwealth also. All things being equals, I hope to win this fight because I'm ready and looking forward to it". Felix said in Lagos.

The petit looking prize fighter has had 11 fight in the professional ranks, won 10 and lost just one. Most of all, he has had 8 knockouts including two over Eddie Ndukwu Junior who he beat to win the national title. Felix said" I have been training for the fight, knowing that I need to win to move on. This is my major break through after beating Ike Ndukwu twice in Lagos. And I look forward to becoming the African champion," said the 25 year old, who stands at 5 feet, 3 inches tall." It an opportunity for me to succeed and make Nigeria proud. But I need a sponsor to help me achieve my aim of winning the African title and go for the world title," Felix said but refused to put a ceiling on the amount he needs for the project in hand. he insisted sponsorship is needed mainly to oversee his welfare white he trains for the fight against the Ghanian. A short glance shows that his Ghanaian opponent is as lethal as well and thus sets the stage for one of the most anticipated fights of recent among fighters in the Junior ranks. Anyetei, the Ghanaians has had six professional fights, five less than Felix. Anyetei too won three of his fights all by knockouts on his way to become champion in his country.

Felix welcomes this record as perfect, saying he would prefer a tough opponent for the African title bout, not a weak one. "I want a tough fighter to beat for the African fight. I don't want a weak person, so that people will not say it was easy for me," he sated. Success, for him, has been made possible due to sheer will, determination and a background rich in years of performance in the amateur ranks. Between 1991 and 1998, Felix had a wonderful career as an amateur, winning laurels upon laurels as undispilled flyweight national champion. An All Africa Games bronze medalist in Harare in 1995, Felix won gold modals in National Sports Festival, Eagle Belt Champion of Champions Championship and in national championships at various tines.
