Ghanaian international Ebenezer Afriyie Acquah has emerged as a shock transfer target for American MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps.

According to a report by US tabloid eightysixforever.com, the Canada-based club sees the 26-year-old defensive midfielder as an option if they fail to land their main targets which includes Andera Bertolacci of AC Milan, and Genk’s Bryan Heynen.

Acquah joined Empoli from Torino in June, 2018 on a one-year deal but he could be sold this winter if the right offer comes .

He has played for Serie A clubs namely Palermo, Parma, Sampdoria, Torino and Empoli with his only move outside Italy being TSG Hoffenheim in 2013 where he failed to make even one appearance.
