The local organizing committee for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations have unveiled the mascot for the tournament.
The unveiling which was done on Friday comes just hours after news started filtering in that CAF has reaffirmed its decision for Ghana to host the tournament.
Ghana was in danger of losing the hosting rights due to the slow pace of work being done on selected venues for the competition.
This led to CAF issuing a circular that it will reconsider its decision to have Ghana host the competition at its General Assembly which opened on Thursday.
Reports, however, suggest that CAF are satisfied with the boosted work done and have reaffirmed Ghana as hosts albeit an official communication is yet to come.
The LOC have however gone ahead to unveil the mascot for the tournament called ‘Agrohemaa’ which literally translates as “Game Queen’.
Agrohemaa, which looks like a female eagle draped in the colours of the Ghana flag is expected to help whip up excitement in the buildup to the start of the tournament on November 17.
